Permalink Reply by Paul A. Viets (aka Big'n) on December 16, 2011 at 10:35am I know what your sister is going through, I almost lost my leg to a staph infection 3 1/2 yrs ago. I was within days of amputation when things took a turn for the better. Unfortunatly due to the infection I am unable to donate blood, if I could I would give a gallon. All I can do is keep you all in my thoughts and prayers. I know it's not much but it's all I can do right now. Paul
Our prayers are with her in this time of need.

Permalink Reply by Peter TenHaagen on January 18, 2012 at 6:25pm Ron and Joanna - Normally I can't donate blood because I travel to Exuma, Bahamas and the CDC thinks there is malaria present (the people there don't seem aware of it, and I could never figure how the mosquitoes know not to go to adjacent islands). However, since I didn't take that trip last year I have donated twice since I've been home and won't be eligible for another several weeks. I am going to make a note in my calendar to find a donation site down in the Keys and I will make that donation in your sister's name Ron. What a shame in 2012 medical science could not cure the infection and had to take her leg. My deepest sympathies.
Peter
